Welcome to The Surgery
With patients' needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
ISSA Medical Centre, St Walburge’s, The Surgery (formerly Moor Park, Robb & Robb and Beech Drive)
Many of our patients will already be aware that the above practices have been working closely together for the past few years. During the last two years we have aimed to work closely across all of our practices to offer patients the best possible service.
We believe that forming one practice rather than 3 separate ones will allow us to offer a greater variety of services to all of our patients. The proposal is to continue to work from existing premises, however patients will have access to services available across all premises.
There will be many benefits to all our patients and we aim to ensure that this proposal will ensure patients registered at all practices can continue to see a doctor of their choice at their practice whilst benefiting from a wider range of services and skills mix.
We have already been able to provide additional services which otherwise would have to go to hospital - such as anticoagulation monitoring, including home visits for housebound patients, minor surgery, specialist diabetes service, family planning and GP cover for holidays and Saturday opening.
Historically we have shared the same passion to provide high quality services, there have been some technical issues along the way, however our objective is to;
¨ Ensure our communities maintain access to a wide range of services
¨ Give patients access to a greater number of medical staff with range of clinical expertise
¨ To pool our resources making it easier for patients to access services
¨ Place patients at the centre of all that we do
Frequently asked questions
We appreciate that in some cases patients have already experienced change, the purpose of this further merger is to ensure that the services provided behind the scenes but which are critical to providing a high quality service to patients can be more effective.
To help patients understand how the new organisation will operate please look at the frequently asked questions below;
Will I have to wait longer for an appointment?
Management will continue to monitor appointments and continually strive to improve the way in which we work to increase the number of available appointments. Patients can continue to see a doctor at their registered practice but will also benefit from services provided at
other practices such as INR testing and minor surgery.
Transport issues – I am unable to get transport to attend another practice.
You will not be required to attend another practice unless you choose to do so. There may be services available to you at another practice which you would have ordinarily required a hospital referral, for example complex diabetes care.
Continuous changes in GP’s – we have been used to one or two doctors, there are too many.
There will be no changes to the Doctors/Nurses/Receptionists at each of the individual practices premises. The merger will increase access to a greater number of medical professionals with a wider range of skill mix that will benefit all patients bringing additional medical services to the medical centre.
Practice closure – we are concerned that management may decide in the future to close some of the existing premises.
There is no intention of closing any current sites at present, services will continue to be provided as normal. However we will be building a new medical centre for the future which will relocate some of the existing practices into a new purpose built facility. This will also have a number of community and hospital outpatient facilities on site which will benefit all of our patients and reduce the amount of time spent travelling between services.
We welcome patient feedback on our proposed merger. Share your opinion by
